Removal of dyes from textile effluents by chemical coagulation
Surface charge density studies as well as characterizations of coagulated dye sludge were investigated to explain the mechanism which takes place during removal of dyes from effluents by chemical coagulation. A simple laboratory model was used to compare two commercially used textile azo dyes: CI “Reactive Black 5” and “Acid Black 1” that were coagulated with synthetic primary coagulants have b...
Removal of Dyes from Textile Industry Effluent: A Review
Effluent from the textile industry contains toxic compounds. These compounds contaminate the surface water, thereby making it unfit for irrigation and drinking. Since farmers use water from the rivers for agricultural purposes and the residents of the town, use both the surface and underground water from the same area as potable water, it is quite unsafe to discharge this effluent into water bo...
Hpan Textile Fiber Wastes for Removal of Dyes from Industrial Textile Effluents
The paper presents our new results about efficiency of wastes based on hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile textile fibers (HPAN) as sorbents in removal of some dyes from textile effluents. The effect of some experimental variables such as initial dye concentration, sorbent mass, pH, temperature, and contact time were investigated. The sorbent dye sorption systems are described using Freundlich, Langmu...

Dyes are recalcitrant compounds that resist conventional biological treatments. The degradation of three textile dyes (Indigo, RBBR and Sulphur Black), and the dye-containing liquid effluent and solid waste from the Municipal Treatment Station, Americana, São Paulo, Brazil, by the cyanobacteria Anabaena flos-aquae UTCC64, Phormidium autumnale UTEX1580 and Synechococcus sp. PCC7942 was evaluated...
Investigation of Color Removal by Chemical Oxidation for Three Reactive Textile Dyes and Spent Textile Dye Wastewater
This research investigated the efficacy of chlorine dioxide (ClO2), ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, UV in combination with chlorine dioxide (UV/ClO2), and UV in combination with hydrogen peroxide (UV/H2O2) for decolorizing three reactive azo dyes (sultan red, indigo blue and cypress green) and treated textile-manufacturing wastewater. The objective was to determine the best treatment for reducing...
